Hazmat Awareness for Healthcare Providers
This is a hazardous materials awareness level course, for employees that may initially encounter victims of a hazardous materials exposure in a healthcare setting. Course includes an introduction to hazardous substances, incident recognition training, facility response protocol review, and other related topics.
First Receiver Training
Hospital based hazardous material course for workers that will receive and treat victims from a hazardous materials related incident. Course includes introduction to hazardous substances, incident recognition and facility response protocol, physical properties of hazardous substances, the toxicology of hazardous substances, personal protective equipment, decontamination protocols, incident management, event termination and post incident procedures.
Target Audience:
Healthcare workers with risk of occupational exposures to chemical, biological, or radiological materials when a hospital receives contaminated patients, particularly during mass casualty incidents. These hospital employees, who may be termed first receivers, work at a site remote from the location where the hazardous substance release occurred. This means that their exposures are limited to the substances transported to the hospital on victims' skin, hair, clothing, or personal effects. The location and limited source of contaminant distinguishes first receivers from other first responders who typically respond to the incident site.
First Receiver Refresher Training
This course is designed as a refresher course for those employees that have already completed the First Receiver training course. An annual refresher to insure that knowledge and skills related to the First Receiver course is required by OSHA.
